How to find a gf in dubai

Despite Dubai being a city of modern amenities, tall towers and a population comprised largely of expatriates, rules for dating in Dubai are quite strict and should be followed by all those who choose to live in or visit the emirate. The city has a host of popular nightclubs and bars, which are popular venues for meeting people of all different nationalities. Therefore, dating is not uncommon in the city, but the rules governing dating in Dubai are very different from those in the UK, Europe or the USA. Although Dubai is by far the most liberal emirate in the Saudi Arabian peninsula, there is a code of acceptable behavior when you are in public. Arab traditions in dating are much more conservative than Western norms, so do not automatically assume that what is acceptable in your home country will be considered appropriate in Dubai.

Im sure this has been asked many times. But im travelling to Dubai for 2 weeks with my GF, should hopefully be ok once there but my main concern is at the airport an immigration? Put 'umarried couples' into the search box above this thread and you'll find endless threads about this, it's a very common worry for first time visitors. Nobody will know you are not married unless you tell them. So don't tell them.

Refer to each other as 'my husband' and 'my wife'. Having different surnames is a complete non-issue as not every woman changes her name when she gets married. The only way you are likely to get into trouble is if you come to the attention of the police for another reason - being falling down drunk in public, getting into a fight, or in the unlikely event of you being a victim of crime etc.

Thousands of couples, both visitors and residents, cohabit here. I know a gay expat couple who cohabit and one of them is Muslim. It's all about discretion. I can understand why you are worried but it's really not a big deal as long as you use common sense. If your girlfriend is liable to panic then simply go to different passport queues and tell the truth if you are asked where you are staying. In the many times I've entered Dubai I've never once been asked who I'm travelling with.

Thanks for your advice. I dont drink or smoke so shudnt be attracting any unwanted attention that way. Being there is not the main headache i think im more nervous about the airport.

I think the best thinmg is go to different passport queues, wont be lying about where iam staying but im worried IF they ask who we are travelling with, I wouldnt know what to say or for her to say as she maybe asked if on her own right?? My husband and I went through immigration with no problems..

We are both also Muslim, and no one looked at us funny cos we don't share the same surname. I don't think you should worry. You're making something out of nothing. Loads of people are in the same position as you. Just queue together and smile. Many Thanks for the advice, just being the 1st time out there read alot of bad press hence the nerves As I said, ignore the British press on the subject of Dubai.

Lazy journalists love Dubai-bashing and writing horror stories about what supposedly goes on here. I've entered Dubai countless times on my own ie lone female and never once been asked who I'm travelling with so I can't see why they would ask you or your girlfriend. On my last entry two weeks ago I had to go to a back office to see a more senior officer because of a problem and even then I wasn't asked who I was travelling with I had the same thing on the way out and not asked then either.

It's not an issue, honestly. Don't forget the immigration people see hundreds of people every day, a good portion of whom will be Muslims from various countries.

I don't see them grilling your girlfriend or you just because you may have Muslim names. You really are worrying over nothing! I am not Muslim but my boyfriend is. We have different surnames but we go through immigration together. You are presumed to be married and unless you point out that you are not then you will not have any problems whatsoever!

Kali - Thanks for all your advice really needed some peace of mind, all should be fine cant wait to get there now. PrincessTravel - I suppose i am, just ebing my 1st time there and all the stuff ive heard got a bit paranoid, just bad press and advice soem ppl Im sure all will be fine once there.

Going to Dubai with My GF for 2 weeks, any help?? - Dubai Forum

Salam alaikom, I am Muslim woman from France and live in Dubai for 7 years now. Do not hesitate to contact me. Hi Rose If you join internations - Dubai, you will find info about a great women's only 'friends' and network group. Ladies, please take great care when answering offers to meet. I've just found a man posting on this thread, but hiding his identity as such. Take special care to avoid anyone that posts contact details and always meet in a public place, preferably with friends. Please report any suspicious posts you might see. A post on a forum from an anonymous stranger asking to be friends with many spelling and grammatical mistakes should really make you think twice before responding Unfortunately, it is a common occurrence in this part of the world when a single post from a woman or a female sounding name , on whichever topic, results in many requests of friendship, meetings and so on. Desperation central indeed. Hello everyone, This is not a chat room.
